Aurora
Aurora Aksnes (born June 15 1995, from Stavanger) is an Norwegian artist and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, came out in May 2015 on Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. Half the World Away from the band Oasis was recorded to accompany an advertisement of John Lewis, and Nature Boy is a Nat King Cole cover. The singer gained further attention through a tweet from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her song Runaway. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of finding an instrument in her attic and becoming enthralled by the sounds it would produce. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes advised her to use music for the sake of personal development, and not to earn money or for to pursue an interest. This led to her started writing her own music. In addition to Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. When her mother told her that the songs she composed were not meant to be famous for her, rather to help people to realize the importance of their work and influence in the world, she started singing them in public. Her mother suggested that she sing her songs in public in order to make people aware of their own importance and how they can affect the world. Family members didn't even know about this until she was 14. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. The singer claims she is a fan of composing songs. According to her, the songs she creates are the way that she feels everything.
