Her name was also recognized from a post by Katy Perry where Perry endorsed the song Runaway. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music is finding a grand piano that was in the attic. She was fascinated by what it could do. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. The Aksnes family encouraged her to not to do music just to have fun or to aid in growing, but that she must explore it. She began to write her own compositions. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as a love for Bjork's style. Her mother had told her the songs she composed might not be famous for her, rather to help individuals to recognize the importance of their work and influence on the world, she started performing them publicly. The piano was her first instrument at the age of six. She began making music at the age of nine. Her family didn't be aware of this until she turned fourteen. It was never a dream to turn into Aurora. She says she just likes writing music. According to her, she believes that music can help people feel more relaxed.
